If the Blackhawks go with Alexander Salak as their backup, veteran goalie Ray Emery will be left without a job.
"If things don't turn out the way he'd like in Chicago, don't be surprised if he catches on somewhere else this season. San Jose has its share if injury problems in net with Antti Niemi recovering from a cyst removal and Antero Niittymaki out for 12 weeks," writes Pro Hockey Talk.
However, the Sharks may have multiple options.

Oilers Seeking Puck Movers
The Oilers are believed to be seeking a puck-moving defenseman as the regular season nears.
They want the defenseman to be able to move the puck to their young, exciting forwards.
"There are too many Oiler defenseman into the double-clutch mode, not willing to risk a headman pass even if the worst thing that happens is an icing and a face-off in their end," writes the Edmonton Journal.
Parise Hints At Staying With Devils
When Zach Parise signed a one-year deal with the Devils, many were led to believe that he planned to sign a multi-year deal elsewhere.
However, Parise told NHL.com that he did in fact talk to New Jersey about a long-term deal.
"We said it right after we signed it, that we were going to keep talking. It's not as if we're not going to talk until next June 30. We'll keep going and keep working on it," he said.
Doan, Coyotes Headed Towards Extension
The Coyotes and Shane Doan are discussing a contract extension because he'll become a free agent next summer.
"Obviously my track record is we will figure something out," he said.
Doan carries a $4.55 million cap hit this season, but the Coyotes should be able to lock him up for much less in his next deal.
Turco Hoping For Camp Offers
Former Blackhawks goaltender Marty Turco hasn't signed with a new team, but the veteran isn't ready to retire.
"Yeah, I'm still looking," the 36-year-old Turco said. "Teams go to camp next week so we'll see."
Turco's hopes probably reside on a training camp injury or underwhelming performance either by a rookie or other veteran.
"I want to play some more," Turco said. "I still think I can play in this league. I'm not ready for plans after hockey just yet."
Bruins May Eye Parise, Semin
The Bruins may be interested in a pair of high-profile free agents next summer.
"If he shed some salary elsewhere, he could dip into what will be a solid unrestricted free agent market with the likes of Alexander Semin, Zach Parise and Jiri Hudler," writes ESPN.com's James Murphy.
"The Bruins need a bona-fide scorer on the wing and any of those three players would fit that role."
Turco Will Play, But Lacks Team
Marty Turco still doesn't have a job in the NHL, but his agent insists he'll play this season.
Turco can wait for an NHL team to call, retire or go to Europe to continue his career.
Legace Earns Tryout With Vancouver
Manny Legace is getting another opportunity to play goaltender in the NHL.
After spending the last year playing in Germany, the 38-year-old has earned himself a tryout with the Canucks.
